About this project

Sound Startups is a nonprofit that fills a gap most startup ecosystems leave open: support for founders before they have a company yet, not just after. Their programs move a person from a raw idea through validation, building, and growth, and the site's main job is to make that pipeline legible to two very different audiences at once: prospective founders deciding whether to apply, and sponsors deciding whether to fund it.

Sound Startups' programs page, breaking the founder journey into exploration, validation, building, and growth stages

We built the site around that pipeline as the core piece of information architecture: a clear four-stage founder journey (Discovery Lab, Builder Studio, Founder Guild, and ongoing community events) that reads as a progression, not a menu of unrelated offerings. Sponsors, events, and news all hang off that same structure rather than competing with it.

The result reads less like a typical nonprofit brochure site and more like a product roadmap for becoming a founder, which is exactly the pitch Sound Startups needed to make.

What we did

  • Information architecture around a four-stage founder journey
  • Site design and build for two audiences, founders and sponsors
  • Programs, events, and news structured off one pipeline
  • Nonprofit positioning that reads like a product roadmap
